Soccer is the game of millions. Both old and young watch with passion the broadcasts of professional competitions and play on the field.
At first glance, the game of soccer does not require much preparation in terms of equipment, but in fact it is not. Everything matters, even the size of the goal.
What should soccer goals be?
There are specific parameters for standard soccer goals. They are enshrined in the GOST of the Russian Federation. At important competitions, structures with a length of 732 cm and a width of 244 cm are installed. Such enigmatic figures, not integer, are not accidental. Since soccer is an English game, the size of the goal, as fixed by the International Football Federation, is expressed in feet and yards and only then translated into centimeters. The English requirements call for a width of 8 yards and a height of 8 feet.
4 Basic Football Goal Designs
Today’s standards call for four types of soccer goals with different dimensions.
A design with outriggered side posts.
A system with cantilevered crossbars on the side posts.
With longitudinal lateral supports on the ground.
With a counterweight positioned on the supporting sidewalls.
In addition to serious competitions, there are also training, amateur games, school soccer, etc. For such purposes, manufacturers offer a wide range of soccer goal models with both standard dimensions and non-standard.
Collapsible. Such constructions are used on small grounds, indoors, in amateur games. They are easy to install and just as easy to dismantle, and that is their main advantage.
Folding. A separate type of collapsible gate, which is made of light aluminum tubes. Assembly is carried out with the help of wedges and pins. Can be mounted into metal frames, concreted flush with the field.
Small soccer goals. Used in junior competitions. The height of such structures is 2 meters and the width is 5 meters.
Inflatable. Also used for children’s games. Such goals have found their application in camps and recreation centers. They are not traumatic even for the youngest soccer players.
The frame is the basis of the soccer goal
The basis of the soccer goal, of course, is the frame. It is made of aluminum or steel profile with a round section of 120 mm or oval section 120×100 mm. It is important that all elements of the frame were made of the same profile. In accordance with the standards, in order to increase stiffness and avoid deformations, the construction is supplemented with a crossbar.
Small-size and training gates, portable structures can be made of pipes and profiles of smaller diameter. Also the main material in this case can be used not metal, and reinforced plastic.
Mounting the gate may be carried out by means of stationary studs. L-shaped and L-shaped designs are also acceptable. The latter option involves the presence of clamps or counterweights.
The painting of the soccer goal frame is also stipulated by the standards. To do so, resistant powder coatings or oxidized coatings of white color are used. The elements in contact with the ground must have an additional anti-corrosion coating.
