Beach Soccer

Beach soccer is a sport based on the rules of the game of traditional soccer. Competitions are held on sandy beaches, with particular importance is the technique of ball possession, speed of movement on a sticky surface. The first attempts to unify the rules were made in 1992 by the founders of the World Beach Soccer Organization. The WOSF began to hold tournaments in beach soccer under its aegis.

Soft and hard sand forces players to improvise a lot, to use beautiful tricks such as overhand kicks (scissors and biceps). Compact size of the field (28 by 37 meters) allows players to score from almost any position, even a direct hit from their goal. Accordingly, during the game you can see about 60 shots on goal opponent (for comparison, in major soccer 20 shots on goal for both opponents is considered a decent rate). Goals are scored every 3-4 minutes on average and the average efficiency of a match is about 11 goals scored per game (in traditional soccer in recent years the norm is 2.5 goals).

Beach soccer originated in Brazil and has grown to become a sport of international importance. The participation of famous big soccer players such as Eric Cantona of France, Miguel and Julio Salinas of Spain and Romário, Júnior and Zico of Brazil contributed to the spread of television coverage, beach soccer was shown in 170 countries. This made beach soccer one of the fastest growing sports in the world and attracted a lot of advertising and sponsors.Harry Kane plays for Spurs

Rules of the game

Each team consists of five players (four field players and a goalkeeper).
A team can make an unlimited number of substitutions during a match (there are usually 3 to 5 substitutes on the bench).
The match consists of three periods of 12 minutes each.
The break between periods lasts 3 minutes.
In beach soccer there are no draws. After regular time an extra period – 3 minutes, if at the end of which the winner is not defined – appointed a series of penalty kicks, 3 strikes.
The match is served by two referees in the field, a timekeeper and a reserve referee.
Each foul results in a penalty kick, which must be kicked at the opponent’s goal.
The penalty kick is awarded to the player against whom the rules have been infringed. If that player is injured, he leaves the field and any other player takes the penalty kick.
There are also other rules:
Players play barefoot. Shin and knee protectors are allowed.
Do not interfere with a player taking a scissor kick or overhand kick. If the infringement is committed in the opponent’s half of the field, the referees provide a “corridor” for the kick. If the infringement takes place in your half of the field of play, all field players move behind the ball line.
The time for possession of the ball by the goalkeeper and players in their penalty area, for throwing in the ball from a touch and corner is four seconds. And the goalkeeper, once outside the area with the ball, can not return to it and take the ball in his hands.
