What is soccer
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the body that regulates the game, estimates that more than 1.3 billion people are actively interested in soccer around the world, making soccer the most popular game in the world.

Soccer field size and marking lines

The standard soccer field is a rectangular area where the goal lines (goal lines) are necessarily shorter than the sidelines. Next we will consider the parameters of the soccer field.

Р he size of the soccer field in meters is not clearly regulated, but there are certain limits. For matches at the national level the standard length of a soccer pitch from goal to goal should be within 90-120 meters and its width 45-90 meters. The area of a soccer field ranges from 4050 m2 to 10800 m2. For comparison 1 hectare = 10,000 m2. For international matches the length of the touchline should not go beyond 100-110 meters and the goal line length should not go beyond 64-75 meters. There are recommended FIFA dimensions for a soccer field of 105 by 68 meters (area 7140 square meters). How long is a soccer pitch? The length of the soccer pitch from goal to goal should be between 90-120 meters.

Field markings are made with equal lines, the width of the markings should not exceed 12 centimeters (the lines are included in the areas they limit). The lateral line or the edge of the soccer field is commonly called the “brow”.

The marking of the soccer field

The center line is the line that divides the field into two equal halves. In the middle of the middle line is the center of the field with a diameter of 0.3 meters. The circumference around the center of the field is 9.15 meters. A kick or a pass from the center of the field starts both halves of the match as well as extra time. After each goal is scored, the ball is also placed in the center of the field.

The goal line in soccer is drawn on the turf parallel to the crossbar.

Soccer goal area – a line which is drawn at a distance of 5.5 metres from the outside of the goal post. Perpendicular to the goal line, two 5.5 meter long strips are drawn, directed deep into the field. Their end points are connected by a line parallel to the goal line.

Penalty Area – two lines are drawn 16.5 metres from the inside of each goal post, at right angles to the goal line, into the net. At a distance of 16.5 metres these lines are connected by another line which is parallel to the goal line. On the center of the goal line and at a distance of 11 metres from the goal line, the eleven-metre mark is marked with a continuous circle of 0.3 metres in diameter. Within the penalty area the goalkeeper can play with his hands.

Corner sectors are arcs with a radius of 1 meter, centered in the corners of the soccer field. This line forms a limited area for corner kicks. In the corners of the field flags are set at least 1.5 meters high and the size of cloth 35×45 centimeters. The field shall be marked by lines the width of which should be equal and not exceed 12 centimeters. The picture below shows a scheme of soccer field marking.
