Kano Pillars attacker, Abbas Rabiu, has expressed regrets for the red card he received in the Sai Masu Gida 1-0 victory over visiting Rivers Utd in the Match Day 6 of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season, NPFL.
The four-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions found themselves in front as early as the 20th minute of the encounter courtesy of Nwagua Nyima, who benefitted from a defensive mixed-up by the Rivers Utd backline.
However, the speed star has apologized to his team mates, technical crew, management and the entire fans of the club for his unruly behavior during the match.
Abbas received his matching orders from the center referee, Muhammad Nuruddeen, FIFA, from Bauchi in the 55th minute of the game for a two bookable offense.
In an interview with www.kano-pillars.com, the striker said he was disturbed for being sent off and has urged the teeming fans of the club to forgive him for letting them down.
“Thank God we won the match but am very worried that I put my team under a lot of pressure for the larger part of the second 45 minute,” Abbas confessed.
He said he learned a lot and assured to always put his head down before, during and after every game in the future.
He then commended his team mates for sustaining the pressure and runs away with the maximum points.
According to the spokesman of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, the League Management Company of Nigeria, LMC, have sent a letter to the management of the national champions confirming that the player will miss one match for the two yellow cards he received against the Port Harcourt based side.
With this development, Abbas Rabiu will not be part of the players that would trade tackles with Akwa Utd on Saturday.
