Kano Pillars FC maintained its 100% home record in the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season after a narrow-victory over visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure played at the Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna, on Wednesday.
Energetic forward, Nwagua Nyima, scored the only goal of the match to send the Sai Masu Gida to the top of the 20-team NPFL log.

Chief Coach, Ibrahim A. Musa aka Jugunu was given the nod to lead the side in the absence of technical adviser, Mr. Emmanuel Lionel Soccoia, who was slammed with a one game suspension and a fine of #250,000K by the League Management Company of Nigeria, LMC, for criticizing the officiating of his team’s 1-0 loss to Lobi Stars in the Match 11 played at the Aper Aku stadium, Makurdi, at the weekend
In the post match press conference, Coach Ibrahim A. Musa, was full of praises for his boy’s efforts and for maintaining their one hundred percent home record in the league.
The experienced tactician said, the Sai Masu Gida are gearing up to maintain their top position on the log and would remain focused until they achieved their targeted objectives of winning the league this season.
“I am here standing before you today because our technical adviser, Emmanuel Lionel was suspended for the match but he will lead the team against Dakkada on Sunday,” Jugunu concluded.
With Wednesday’s result, the Pride of Kano are top of the log with 23 points from 12 matches, 1 more than 2nd place Kwara Utd and they remain the only side yet to concede at home in the ongoing season.
The national champions would next trade tackles with Dakkada FC on Sunday in the Match Day 13 of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
