Kano Pillars FC recorded their second maximum points on the road in the ongoing 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season after they beat Wikki Tourists FC 2-1 at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, on Sunday evening.
Energetic forward, Nwagua Nyima finished up a fine counter attack when he was sets through one-on-one with Wikki Tourists goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali by David Ebuka to open the scoring for the Sai Masu Gida in the 13th minute of the encounter.
The forward composed himself very well in the box to slotted home the opener and his 5th for the season.
Pillars fluid flowing football was once again rewarded in the 27th minute when David Ebuka benefited from Mustapha Jibrin’s cross down the left flank and the powerful forward makes no mistake to buried the ball to the back of the net.
The first forty-five minutes ended with the visitors in a commanding lead.
The second-half started in a high intensity with the host trying to equalize while the Pyramid City side looking up for another goal to killed up the game.
However, Wikki Tourists reduced the deficit in the 65th minute with a calm finish from substitute, Chukwude Stephen.
The four-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions commanding performance in the evening saw them run away with all the maximum points at stake.
Speaking to journalists after the match, Acting Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars, Ibrahim A. Musa aka Coach Jugunu, dedicated the victory to Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the entire people of the state.
Coach Ibrahim expressed delight with the performance of his players by playing according to instructions.
He affirmed his willingness to do everything humanly possible to lead the Aiteo cup holders to their 5th NPFL title at the end of the current season.
“We have two home matches left before the end of the first stanza and by God grace, we will not leave any stone unturned by recording maximum points out of those fixtures”, Coach Jugunu boasted.
On his part, captain of the side, Rabiu Ali aka Pele, thanked Almighty Allah for the victory and said the victory is a collective efforts of the players, management and technical crew of the team.
The legend said they will continue to be steadfast by maintaining their home record and also try to win some important matches away from home in order to meet their sets objectives at the end of the season.
The captain then thanked the management and entire fans of the club for their untiring support to the team and assured that they would not disappoint.
In his separate remark, Chairman of the club, Alhaji Surajo Shuaibu Jambul has thumbed up the technical crew and the players of the team for working hard to ensure they run away with the maximum points.
Alhaji Jambul said, the victory against Wikki Tourists is another moral booster to the team.
With this development, the Sai Masu Gida are leveled on points, 30, at the top of the log with Kwara Utd but the side from Kwara have a better goal difference than the Pride of Kano to remain in 1st position.
