Kano Pillars FC returned to winning ways on Wednesday as they thrashed visiting Kwara Utd FC of Ilorin by two goals to nil in the Match Day 16 of the ongoing 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

The Sai Masu Gida suffered their heaviest defeat of the season at the weekend when Abia Warriors scored 4 past hopeless Idris Ibrahim dominated the first 45 minutes with series of attacks towards Kwara Utd goalkeeper but went to the break empty handed.

On resumption, both sides missed glaring opportunities to be in front.

However, the Sai Masu Gida got themselves in front courtesy of club legend and captain, Rabiu Ali, who converted from the spot when Kwara Utd defender fouled David Ebuka inside the 18-yard box for his fifth goal of the season.

The game was heading to a slim victory for the Pride of Kano until substitute, Usman Babalolo doubled their lead on the 90+2 of the 3 added minutes by the center Referee, Ahmad Lamido from Yobe state.

Auwalu Ali Malam’s crossed ball inside the box met Babalolo who slotted home via a header. This was Auwalu’s sixth assists in the ongoing NPFL21 season.

In the post match press conference, Chief Coach of Kano Pillars FC, Ibrahim A. Musa, who led the side due to the unexpected statement of resignation of Technical Adviser, Emmanuel Lionel Soccoia just two hours to the kickoff thanked God for the victory and commended the players for playing according to his instructions.

Coach Musa said, they studied the errors that lead to the 4-1 defeat at the hands of Abia Warriors at the weekend and have corrected it against Kwara Utd which yielded a positive result.

The experienced tactician said his focus has now been shifted to the Match Day 17 against Wikki Tourists at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauch, on Sunday which he is optimistic his side will run out victorious.

In the same vein, Journalists who covered the match at the Ahmadu Bello stadium unanimously voted Rabiu Ali as the Man of the Match.
