Head coach of Kano Pillars FC, Mr. Emmanuel Lionel Soccoia, has blamed his side’s 1-0 loss to Akwa Utd in the Match Day 7 of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season on Saturday on fatigue.
Ndifreke Effiong’s lone strike in the 28th minute was all enough to hand Akwa Utd the 3 points at stake.
All efforts by the Sai Masu Gida to come back into the game prove abortive as the match ended with Akwa Utd as the victorious.
While, Mr. Lionel noted that his players failed to convert their chances well in the game, he told www.kano-pillars.com that it is not easy to play on Wednesday and then spent two days on the road before playing your next game on Saturday.
He called on the League Management Company of Nigeria, LMC, to consider the hardship teams face on the road while arranging the fixtures.
“There is a need for the organizers of the league to consider the hardship teams are facing on the road and playing 3 games in a week,” Coach Lionel pleaded.
The French tactician has said that his attention now has been shift to the Match Day 8 clash at home to neighbours, Jigawa Golden Stars, on Wednesday at the Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna, and hoped to grab all the 3 points at stake.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Achibi Ewenike, said he is confident that they would end the season as champions and the loss against Akwa Utd will not kill their morals.
The Pride of Kano will leave Uyo, for Kaduna on Sunday ahead of their Match Day 8 against Jigawa Golden Stars on Wednesday at the Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna.
