Kano Pillars FC continued their bright start to the season after thrashing neighbours, Katsina Utd 2-0 in the Match Day Two of the ongoing 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

David Ebuka opened the scoring for the host in the 8th minute of the game after receiving a fine pass from Auwalu Ali Malam from inside the 16-yard box.

It was the first goal of the season for Ebuka, who tormented the Katsina Utd backline until he was subbed off towards the end of the encounter.


Captain, Rabiu Ali makes it 2-0 to the Sai Masu Gidas in the 27th minutes of the game after he was sets through by Yusuf Bala Maigoro from just outside the box.


The veteran and club legend has two goals from the maximum two games he played so far for the club. His first goal came during the opening day of the season away to Adamawa Utd in a game that ended 1 goal apiece.


Speaking shortly after the match, technical adviser of Kano Pillars FC, Mr. Lionel Emmanuel Soccoia thumbs up his players for the way and manner in which they approached the encounter against Katsina Utd.


The French tactician expressed his delight on how his team played according to instructions.


He said taking 3 points in such a high intensed game is very vital and encouraging to the team and expressed hope that the team would achieved the objectives sets from day one.


He he lamented that struggling from Kano to Kaduna for home games is right now his main problem.


“Yes, Ahmadu Bello stadium is our home but we have some problems of having no time train because, we are struggling from Kano to Kaduna, Coach Lionel lament.


The former FC Leopard of South Africa coach has however shifted his attention to the Match Day 3 cracker away to Nasarawa Utd of Lafia.

Mr. Lionel said the team will be approaching each game at a time.


In their separates reactions, some of the players of the club Auwalu Ali Malam and Fahad Usman, has thanked Almighty Allah for the victory and assured that they would not relent on their efforts in challenging for the NPFL title.


They expressed delight on the commitment of the management on their welfare and pledged to make the government and people of Kano state proud.


Sunday’s victory has moved the national champions to 3rd on the log with 4 points from two matches and will next travel to the north central to face the solid miners, Nasarawa Utd.
