Nigeria Ambasador to Ghana, Mr Olufemi Micheal Olufemi Abikoye has charged Kano Pillars FC players to be good Ambassadors of Nigeria while in Ghana.
The Ambasador made the called while receiving the players and their officials at the country embassy in Accra the capital city of Ghana.
Ambasador Femi Micheal Abikoye reminded them the task ahead of them as they files out against Asante Kotoko on Sunday in the CAF Champions League 2nd leg preliminary playoffs to be played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi which he hope the Sai Masu Gida would tighten their belts to make two hundreds million Nigerians proud.
Mr. Micheal told the delegation that they are in Ghana as Nigeria’s representative not Kano state alone and advised them to be fully focus.
He said the embassy is ready to give them all the necessary support and co operation throughout their stay in Ghana.
“Please, forget the 3-2 victory in Kano two weeks ago and beat Asante so that you would make President Buhari and the entire Nigerians happy on Sunday, Mr. Olufemi said.
According to him, any Football match between Nigeria and Ghana is a unique for long period of time and so urged them not to take things for granted on Sunday.
He also said that he and all his staff as well as Nigerians living in Ghana will be at the Stadium to cheer them up.
Earlier the leader of the delegation, Dr. Sharif Rabi’u Inuwa Ahlan who is also a Board member the Nigeria Football Federation said they were at the embassy to seek the Ambassador’s blessing and notify him that ‘The Sai Masu Gida’ are in his domain.
Dr. Ahlan thanked him for the reception accorded to them and assured him that the team will not disappoint him and the entire Nigerian community in Ghana.
The meeting was rounded up with a special breakfast for the team at the embassy’s conference hall.
The Nigeria Giants landed at Accra International Airport at 9:24am Nigeria time today, Friday where they have a transit of three hours before, to Kumasi where the match is going to take place on Sunday.
