Kano Pillars Football club family has been thrown into mourning following the demise of Director, scouting, coach Danlami Akawu, on Saturday morning.
According to the spokesman of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, Coach Akawu died on Saturday at the age of 66, after a brief illness at his residence in Ƙofar Wambai quarters, Kano.
Malikawa said, the demise of Akawu shocked the entire family of the club.
Late Usman Akawu was buried according to the Islamic rites. Top sports administrators in the state that include, Kano Pillars FC chairman, Alhaji Surajo Shuaibu Jambul, chairman of the state’s sports commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima and others, attended the burial.
Shortly after the burial, chairman of the club, Alhaji Surajo Shuaibu Jambul, described late Usman Danlami Akawu as an honest and dedicated person who sacrificed his life in promoting football and other human activities in the state and the country at large.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him Jannatul Firdaus and urged his family to bear the loss.
Football lovers across the country are trooping to the deceased house for condolences.
